2011 In Pictures Part II

1 Jan

Of course, outside of my freelancing realm, I actually take photos for fun. Whether it’s capturing the protests in front of the Fullerton Police Department or a day at the park, I enjoy covering what needs to be covered and finding fascinating stuff. Here’s a few things I’ve captured in 2011:

What’s Great About Posing With a Big Book?

13 Apr

I will embark on a photo project that I hope to complete by this summer and I’m looking for a few female models in the LA/OC area between the ages of 18-30. To sum it all up, it involves three things: a park or beach, the novel “Ulysses” by James Joyce and sunshine. If you like two out of the three things or all three, then we can probably work together.

THIS PHOTOSHOOT WILL HAVE NO NUDITY since it will be in a public place and it’s as tasteful as it’s going to get. Since this project will involve no pay (apart from possibly one or two drinks if you’re 21 and older), it’s only great for those looking to get their foot in the door. If you’re interested, please contact me at edfcarrasco [at] gmail [dot] com for more details.

Some of my portraits/examples are below:

Paulie Pesh at the Continental Room

10 Apr

Last month, I had the pleasure to check out Paulie Pesh, which is this large Indie-ish ensemble. If you name an instrument, the band probably has it. Violins, trumpets, horns–it all meshes into some sweet rocking sound. Here’s hoping I will cover this lovely band in the future. If you haven’t downloaded their latest EP “Post Mortem,” check out this link.

Who is Jesse La Tour?

29 Jul

The few things I know about Jesse La Tour are as follows:

-He’s affiliated with the Hibbleton Gallery.

-He lives in Downtown Fullerton.

-He hosts Nerdy Thursday.

-He’s running for Fullerton City Council.

Hopefully I’ll find out a few more things to put on my list when I go to his kick-off event at the Hibbleton Gallery tonight from 6pm-Midnight. I’ll be covering it for local media, so catch up with me if you can!

Nerdy Thursdays–7/22/2010

24 Jul

Quite an intimate crowd at Nerdy Thursdays, hosted by Jesse La Tour (He’s running for Fullerton City Council this November. Hopefully I can interview him after his election rally). I couldn’t believe they would ask questions about Danny Glover! To think I could stump people in trivia, but not on anything related to Danny Glover.

Interesting Thursdays

22 Jul

What I’ll be doing for the rest of the day instead of moping around:

1) City of La Mirada’s 50th Anniversary Concert at Neff Park

If you were to drive around my town, the first thing you would have not noticed is that La Mirada is 50 years old. That’s right. The big 5-0. AARP status. My question is this. How come the city didn’t tell the whole world about this? Where’s the banners? The announcements? The nice stationery? Who knows, but it’s a bummer that a nice, pleasant city is keeping mum about its age *wink*. But here’s something. At least there’s a concert to celebrate the city’s 50th anniversary. Too bad it had to come in the form of a press release. Hopefully, I’m sure the economy will be much better when it turns 60.

(Side Note: I’ll be trying the tri-tip sandwich at one of the booths. I’ll let you know how it tastes.)

2) Nerdy Thursdays at the Hibbleton Art Gallery, 112 W. Wilshire Ave., Fullerton, CA 92832

According to the OC Weekly, Nerdy Thursdays is “not your average variety show–think Jeopardy! meets Revenge of the Nerds.” Now you’re talking. I’ll be wearing my glasses especially for this. Here’s the listing.

Hopefully in both events, I’ll be bring my camera.
