Slowing the War on Drugs

8 Aug

On the way to the Weezer concert on the beach, I passed a demonstration for Proposition 19, an upcoming ballot measure in California that would essentially legalize marijuana and generate revenue (e.g. taxes). Most of the demonstrators were under 25 and surprisingly it didn’t reek of marijuana. I’m no marijuana user, but I think it’s high time (no pun intended) to treat marijuana as different as alcohol or other legalized substances. It’s time to stop punishing users of marijuana and hauling them away to jail for unnecessary sentences.

The only thing Prop 19 supporters must do besides holding demonstrations on busy intersections is to actually vote for this measure.

Weezer (featuring Hot Hot Heat)–8/7/10

7 Aug

I have fulfilled one of my lifetime goals today…to see Weezer live! Yes, and Hot Hot Heat came out to play today. While Hot Hot Heat’s set was so-so, I have to say that Rivers Cuomo and the gang put on a great set, playing the classics like Buddy Holly, Hash Pipe and Beverly Hills along with some new ones. Oh yes and Weezer is nth band that did a Lady Gaga cover. Is Lady Gaga that influential? Enjoy some of the pics:

US Open of Surfing–7/31/10

3 Aug

The reason I was at the US Open of Surfing wasn’t to watch two groups of people pummel the crap out of each other. I was there for the cool vibes, the kick-ass surf and much more. Check some of my pics out:

Strength Project in Huntington Beach

25 Jul

I went down to Huntington Beach to relax. As I was about to walk on the sand, I stumbled by this group of performers called “Strength Project” bust a few moves. It looked like capoeira to me, but it’s just some crazy breakdancing and awesome jumping stunts. Check this out:

Check them out on weekends near the Huntington Beach Pier and on their website. More pics will follow once the Flickr page is up and ready.
